Silver Light Photography

Far too many photographs of children are contrived: forced smiles, ornate props, and fake backgrounds. I strive for natural and uncluttered images that allow children to be themselves and don't just show, but tell.

What I love about children's photography is the challenge of reducing life, a little life, down to something that fits in a square frame: to capture a moment or an expression that may never happen again. It isn't easy--kids don't like to sit still for anything--but getting the right shot is immensely rewarding.

Photography allows us to do the impossible, to hang on to these little ones who grow up and change so fast. With a camera, we can stop time in its tracks, capturing an image, a moment, a story, that can endure beyond life and memory.

And that's my goal: to capture timeless, fine art portraits of kids being kids.
